Mind Charity
The charity Mind provides advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. Mind campaigns to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Mind’s current President is Stephen Fry (the actor, comedian and broadcaster) who took over from Lord Melvyn Bragg in September 2011.
Stephen Fry suffers from bipolar disorder (manic depression) which the late Spike Milligan also experienced during his own lifetime.
In 2006, a filmed documentary, “The Secret Life of the Manic Depressive”, detailed Stephen Fry’s experience and helped raise awareness of this often misunderstood condition.
Mind is a charity and relies upon donations to continue their work. The broad base funding for Mind comes from the public, from trusts and companies (but never pharmaceutical companies) and this ensures Mind’s integrity.
